{"id":478,"date":"2016-08-03T11:18:01","date_gmt":"2016-08-03T11:18:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dragoid.com\/en\/?p=478"},"modified":"2016-08-03T11:23:44","modified_gmt":"2016-08-03T11:23:44","slug":"goals-in-football-can-be-predicted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dragoid.com\/en\/goals-in-football-can-be-predicted\/","title":{"rendered":"\u00bfGoals in football can be predicted?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"\">The paper published in<\/span> the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elsevier.es\/es-revista-revista-andaluza-medicina-del-deporte-284-articulo-analisis-los-goles-conseguidos-13-S1888754616000253\">Andalusian Journal of Sports Medicine<\/a>, tries to answer that question <span class=\"\">so interesting.<\/span> We analyzed the goals scored in 13 seasons in the first division of the <span class=\"\">Spanish<\/span> professional footbal l<\/span><span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\">league<\/span><span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\">As in <span class=\"\">other professional leagues<\/span>, there is a clear difference between the top-ranked teams and <span class=\"\">other competitors<\/span>. This dynamic hampers the overall quality of the league. There is also an increased in <span class=\"\">the likelihood that<\/span> a large number of goals (&gt; 5 goals) in a single game are achieved. This fact <span class=\"\">causes the<\/span> distribution of the number of goals per game follows a negative binomial distribution<span class=\"\">.<\/span> This means that the goals turn from a random behavior (following a Poisson distribution<span class=\"\">)<\/span> to a more chaotic behavior, i.e., with an underlying order difficult to determine.<\/span><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The paper published in the Andalusian Journal of Sports Medicine, tries to answer that question so interesting.
